Katie Helms marketing consultant in Richmond Virginia
Marketing strategist working on social media content calendar

Hi, I’m Katie (KT)

I started Katie's MKTG at 23 after lasting exactly a year in corporate America.

It all started when I landed in Jaco, Costa Rica for a volunteer experience and feeling something I hadn't felt in a long time: inspired. I gave myself three months to build a business or call it. Within two weeks, I had my first two clients.

Hard work, divine timing, and honestly a sign I'd made the right call.

Since then, I've worked with 25+ businesses on everything from one-off strategy sessions to content shoots to LinkedIn ghostwriting. I haven't niched down and I'm not apologizing for it. What stays consistent is my approach: strategy first, always.

Here's my thing with marketing. There are about 50 million ways to do it and it feels like you should've started all of them yesterday. I don't buy into that. I look at your numbers, your goals, your why, and build a strategy from facts, not from whatever trend just hit your feed.

Because marketing shouldn't feel like a nagging task on your to-do list. It should feel like a tool that actually works for you, so you can get back to the part of your business you actually love.

That's how I took a client's social strategy from generating zero leads to landing 11k accounts every month. Turned a digital presence into a strategic sales funnel that drove a 400% increase in website traffic and 72 new contacts in six months. Redesigned a website that increased leads by 40% in the first month. And tripled a newsletter click-through rate after a single campaign.

Strategy and numbers beats trends. Every time.

My business is location-independent and I don't take that for granted. I've taken Katie's MKTG to 20+ countries and built it from beach cafes, coworking spaces, and the occasional volcano base camp.

In April 2026, I hosted my very first Coworkcation, a coworking retreat for women. Sharing this passion for a semi-nomadic lifestyle is something I hold near and dear to my heart, and I refuse to gatekeep it. I want other women to experience this too.

When I'm home, you can find me keeping my fashion brain alive at my part-time keyholder position at Free People, thrifting, thrift-flipping, and already planning my outfit for the concert I have coming up.

I love being active. Solidcore girly (210 classes and counting), walking, and yoga. I earned my RYT200 in Peru, taught classes throughout Coworkcation, and have even led a session for 450+ people over Zoom.
